Albums Of 2009 - No. 15 to No. 6

15. Julian Casablancas 'Phrazes For The Young' (Rough Trade) - Double-edged sword - Astounding yet now I miss his Strokes even more.

14. Yeah Yeah Yeahs 'It's Blitz!' (Interscope) - One dance-laden synth-flooded choon after the other.

13. Sam Isaac 'Bears' (Hear You Me) - Tasteful, inoffensive, unswerving acoustic nourishment.

12. Wintersleep 'Welcome To The Night Sky' (Labwork) - Why these aren't bigger than apple pie is absurd.

11. Passion Pit 'Manners' (Columbia) - Hard not to adore this electropop troupe's debut offering.

10. Julian Plenti 'Julian Plenti is... Skyscraper' (Matador) - A startlingly excellent piece of record.

9. Fight Like Apes 'Fight Like Apes And The Mystery Of The Golden Medallion' (Model Citizen) - Gibberish wordplay + candied dance-punk = Highly neat.

8. White Lies 'To Lose My Life' (Fiction) - The year's most awesome mournful ensemble.

7. Biffy Clyro 'Only Revolutions' (14th Floor) - Their best LP and a revolution most definitely.

6. La Roux 'La Roux' (Polydor) - Unequivocally a gleaming shining light for Grey Britain.
