Albums Of 2009 - No. 28 to No. 16

28. Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band 'Outer South' (Merge) - Nice Conor, now bring back Bright Eyes.

27. My Sad Captains 'Here And Elsewhere' (Stolen) - As lilting as a pack of Aero Bubbles.

26. Jamie T 'Kings & Queens' (Virgin) - In view of overestimated debut, this is bang-up. Mate.

25. Animal Collective 'Merriweather Post Pavillion' (Domino) - Eight albums later and the psych-folk makes sense.

24. The Cribs 'Ignore The Ignorant' (Wichita) - A shaky start only for an archetypal resurgence.

23. Weezer 'Raditude' (Interscope) - Sweet mother of 'God' it's stupendous.

22. 30 Seconds To Mars 'This Is War' (Virgin) - Unabashedly mighty through a fetching, stentorian clamour.

21. Kasabian 'West Rider Pauper Lunatic Asylum' (Columbia) - Neo-trippiness insured by bona fide tunes.

20. Franz Ferdinand 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' (Domino) - If 'Franz Ferdinand' is their Cadillac, this is the Rolls.

19. The Xcerts 'In The Cold Wind We Smile' (Xtra Mile) - Devoid of the much love and heed it justifies.

18. Bombay Bicycle Club 'I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose' (Island) - Who needs the sun when we've got this?

17. Green Day '21st Century Breakdown' (Reprise) - Excessive, momentous and pompous. Awesome.

16. Noah And The Whale 'The First Days Of Spring' (Vertigo) - Stirring, albeit down 15 places on last year.
